🌿 A Year at the Jardinot School Garden in Marseille

The Jardinot school garden in Marseille serves as an open-air laboratory for eco-responsible gardening!
Located in the heart of Marseille, the Jardinot school garden is a vibrant space for experimentation, where novice and experienced gardeners come together. Each year, a series of workshops is organized to help participants develop their skills in eco-friendly gardening, addressing the challenges posed by climate change. Topics include soil nourishment, water conservation, attracting beneficial insects, creating natural vegetable gardens, and composting green waste. Through these workshops, both volunteer facilitators and participants collaborate to implement solutions in the garden and share best practices for fostering a lively and nourishing garden.
✨ The Gardeners Behind This Solidarity Project

Sacha, Camille, and 11 other gardeners from the school garden contributed to the portraits featured in this solidarity calendar.
At the heart of the Jardinot school garden are the dedicated volunteers who plant, water, explain, and welcome schoolchildren, seniors, individuals with disabilities, and anyone interested in reconnecting with nature. These committed gardeners cultivate not just the earth but also social connections through sharing knowledge and kindness. Over the past decade, nearly 700 individuals have participated in workshops, including members of gardening associations, local residents, social centers, and school groups, with approximately 80% being women! The perpetual calendar “A Year in the Garden” honors their contributions.
📅 A Beautiful, Useful, and Durable Calendar
A Reusable Object, Year After Year

Featuring a thick matte paper monthly grid that opens like a book!
Unlike traditional calendars, this one is perpetual: it does not specify a year but includes months and days, with designated spaces for notes. You can use it in 2026 and beyond, as it is zero-waste: simply write with a pencil, erase, and reuse!
You can jot down your resolutions, goals, sowing and planting dates, upcoming plant fairs, and nature events, as well as daily joys or the titles on your reading list! 😉
A Grimoire for Aspiring Botanists

Explore the mythical female figures who have influenced the history of botany through the portraits of today’s gardeners!

Each month features a botanical illustration from the SNHF library along with anecdotes about the plant: its properties, quotes, and recipes…
At the intersection of mythology and gardening, each page narrates the story of an imaginary woman—goddess, nymph, dryad—who inspired the name of a plant or a chapter in the history of botany. Additionally, you will find:
- The scientific name of each plant
- A cultivation tip
- Its physical and chemical properties
- A culinary, medicinal, or artisanal recipe to try yourself
- An inspiring seasonal quote
Thus, each month enriches your botanical knowledge while feeding your imagination. The calendar also features beautifully illustrated double pages showcasing photographic portraits of the gardeners and historic botanical illustrations from the SNHF library.
By purchasing this perpetual calendar, you directly support the Jardinot school garden in Marseille.
